K-SONS
The Kentuckiana Society of N Scalers (KSONS) is a hobby organization. Our members share a common interest in model railroading, and specifically in "N" Scale model trains. This is the smallest size of generally available models, with a ratio of 1:160. While many of our members have some sort of layout at home, most of us have built "N-Trak" modules (small sections of railroad) which conform to a published standard. This allows us to bring all of our individual parts together and assemble a large layout for operation and public viewing. We welcome anyone interested in model railroading to join with us, even if they do not have a layout or modules. For more information contact Steve Simpson at 812-282-5405 or visit their web site.

The Salem Depot Museum
Salem, Indiana, is the birthplace of the Monon Railroad which was organized in 1847 as the New Albany & Salem Rail Road. Its purpose was to provide Salem businesses a method of shipping goods between Salem and the Ohio River, but by the time the line reached Salem in 1851, the decision had already been made to build all the way to Lake Michigan. The Depot is a museum that commemorates the role Salem had in the founding of the railroad. It also features a large model railroad (HO) that depicts Washington County in the period 1957-1964.
